Hidden Treasures

Nothing more delightful for the child in all of us than to hunt for hidden treasure.
My son, if you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom
    and inclining your heart to understanding;
yes, if you call out for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.

Light in the Darkness

Before resurrection, death.  Before the light of glory, darkness.

Jesse and Megan family have kept a favorite tradition as we remember Jesus Christ descended into the darkness of the grave and death to set the dead in Christ free!
John 1:5, The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 12:46, I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:6, For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

A warm spring day as we descended into the cold cavern.  That is unmelted snow at the entrance.

Only the light we carry with us in this underground chamber.

Jesse sang this song and we answered, "We do.  It is.  He is!"

Roman Guard

Thursday evening, we started our reflection on the wonder of Christ's death and resurrection on a Passover 2000 years ago.  This year, all of Christendom recognized Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday on Passover again.  Gabe was invited to set the scene in a 40 year old production, The Last Days of Jesus passion play, in The Dalles.  He stood as a Roman Guard at the entrance of the auditorium as the community poured into the Last Supper with Jesus and his disciples and took the communion of bread and wine, remembering Christ's body and blood poured out for us.

19 years later - Family drive with Lydia engaged at the wheel, taking us to Conboy Lake.
Dad traded up for a Tracker to teach his daughter on a manual transmission.

19 years after saying, "Yes."
