Psalm 61 - Partial Prayer of King David

Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.

Let me dwell in your tent forever!
Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!
For you, O God, have heard my vows;
you have given me the heritage of the those who fear you name.

Looking up and down this gorge, I reflect on the "incredible force" of this flood with "great erosive power, scouring" these cliffs, "dumping huge amounts of sand and silt where the waters spread and slowed" on which parts of our cities are built on.  Are our cities built on shifting sand?  The flood of this force came many thousands of years ago.  The record is precise.   Genesis 7:6, "Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth."  7:11, "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the deep burst forth, and the windows of heavens were opened."
Watch and pray....
Matthew 24:37-39, "For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.  For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man."

Wind river running to the ocean....  Will the wind of the Holy Spirit flow down this river and join the ocean tide before He comes?

In October 1805, Clark recorded the name "Beaten Rock" several times in his journals....
Spring 1806 return trip, Clark began using the name "Beaten Rock."  No one knows why two names....
Reminds me of another Beaten Beacon Rock.
Isaiah 53:5, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities:  the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed."
Isaiah 9:1-2, "...but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea,....  The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone."
American Indians recognized the rock as marking the last of the rapids of the great river and the beginning of the Pacific Ocean's tidal influence.  Lewis wrote, "the beacon rock... may be esteemed as the head of tide water...."

Food must look good.

Here is a random photo of an August dinner entree, summer artichokes.  Aren't they pretty?  Steam and serve with a fresh made pint jar of olive oil mayonnaise.  The immersion blender makes mayonnaise a snap.  Put a fresh farm egg in the bottom of a pint jar.  Add 1/2 tsp of coarse celtic salt, a small dollop of dijon mustard, and a squeeze of half a lemon.  Pour in 1 cup of extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil.  Put the head of your immersion blender down to the very bottom of the jar.  Blend on high for 10-30 seconds, slowly bringing your blender to the top AFTER the mayo has well emulsified from the bottom up.  Voilà.

Trout Lake Fair in August

The first weekend in August, Trout Lake has an annual old-fashioned fair.

This year did not disappoint.  Marshal and I had a health fair, advertising booth for our clinic.  Lydia won blue ribbons for junior crafts with her baby booties and for her Russian Teacakes in the baking contest.
