On the road....

First family week-long vacation since Trout Lake Clinic opened its doors.  Guess where we are going?!  It's been 5 long weeks!  We are going to get Lydia just in time for Marshal's birthday!

Colorado here we come!

Loveland

We got Lu!  Windsor local dining.

Eric and Leslie Ludy at Ellerslie Chapel!

July Comes in with a Bang

Family all together in one place for a starry night, as they were coming out of their quarantine with the passing waves of sickness.

Two Years of Fireworks to Finale

Grandma Ruth cultivating the ever-bearing strawberry patch.

Clematis entry to the garden.

Calendula sunshine blossoms.

Garden beds filling out with greens nicely.

Fresh baby zucchini from the garden.

Summer reds - We learned a hack for keeping garden picked strawberries fresh!  Store them in glass jar in the refrigerator.

June heating up....

Poppies are back!

Pearsons dug a swimming pond.

Gabe was inspired to hand dig a pond for his water fowl.  The ducks and geese were ecstatic.

Kitchen Garden

I'm tending Lydia's garden and on my own in the kitchen with trial and error.

Lydia interspersed Basil and Cilantro with her tomatoes.  Companion planting works!

Garden Cilantro

Is that garden green or what?!  Haha.  Tender lamb's quarter pureed.  I probably wouldn't try that again.  Lightly steamed or sautéed is better.

Migrating Swallowtails stopping over.

First Squash Blossom

Melon from Seed

Sourdough Brown Bread

Sourdough flatbread fail covered with cinnamon and sugar.

Chipmunk climbed the wall to say hello at the kitchen window.

Father's Day

Lydia had her card at the breakfast table for Dad even in her absence.

Surprise!  Sweet Rhubarb Bars.

Gabe - Tall like a tree.

A little sun on the legs and talking to Lulu on the phone.

New Days in June

Gabe and I held down the fort at clinic and home while Marshal left Lydia in Colorado.

Gabe cut the June grass at the clinic.  Grandma and Grandpa maintain the landscape.

Gabe has the mower loaded up.

Lydia's garden planted for the promising warm days of summer.

Can count on radishes in the late spring.

Lydia Leaves....

How did it happen?  Our daughter is 18, and she got the call in her spirit to be brave and venture out to be a learned disciple of Christ.  She followed our little bird, cousin Havilah's, prior example by going to Ellerslie in Windsor, CO.  The Ludy's founded a 5 week intensive discipleship course for avid seekers of all ages for foundation biblical teaching in the knowledge of Jesus Messiah.  Marshal and Lydia embarked on a road trip together to Colorado, visited Uncle Caleb and family for an overnight, and saw Lydia and her suitcase secure to her new dorm room at the Bible school in the second week of June.

Shana celebrated her 16th Birthday with Lydia and friends on the eve of her departure.

And just like that.... an empty space in the Harpe household.

Thankful for FaceTime and Bluelight Magnifiers to see our dear daughter.
