October Summer

The days of summer prolonged and staved the night frosts.  The tomatoes ripened on the vine, and the garden produced melons!

Gargantuan Zucchinis and Cucumbers

Bridget held a fermenting class!  Garden beets in 1/2 inch cubes filling 1/3 of the 1/2 gallon jar, 1 T sea salt and water to the very top.  Gently rock jar daily and ferment on the counter for a week.

Kvass looking good.  Ready to strain and place in the refrigerator.

Fall Apple Pie

Last Days of October harvesting pumpkins, sweet meats, kabocha, and buttercup.

Some planted and others volunteer from the compost pile.  Butternut and a variety of acorn.

Enough harvested seeds to plant an entire field of sunflowers!
