Finding Beauty in Vegas

A course in Emergency Medicine afforded us the excuse to spend most of a week in Las Vegas.
Paris Las Vegas from the window of my Bally's Tower room.  Enjoying the sight, realizing that this is the closest I'm going to get to Paris with my hubby.

Another night shot from my window with the wall fixture of room reflecting in the glass at right.

The Bellagio Fountain music carried itself right up to my window as well.  I especially enjoyed the Rachmaninov and Andrea Bocelli pieces with the dancing water.
My handsome lunch date at Le Cafe Ile St Louis.

Birthday girl having an authentic French lunch, delicious French onion soup and salad.
Marshal's dessert plate at the Treasure Island buffet before the show.
We saw the original Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas show, Mystere.
Harpist in the Japanese spring motif of the Bellagio.

A tremendous burst of color and full of the fragrance of hyacinth, tulips, and calla lilies.

Colored glass art on the ceiling of Bellagio lobby.

View of Paris Las Vegas

A walk through the Venetian.

Looking out from the portico of Venetian.
Watching the Mirage volcano on the walk home and a stop at Walgreens for water.

A table for two on the patio of Mon Ami Gabi restaurant of Paris.

We ate duck and scallops.

And the Bellagio Fountain across the street serenaded us.

Last day in Vegas, Marshal finished his last lecture at noon.  We took the monorail to the north station and walked to the Stratosphere.  We gained free entry to the top by enjoying lunch in the revolving dining room, Top of the World.  We enjoyed top of the world salads and lobster bisque, and sat looking out at the desert for the full hour 360ยบ view.

Las Vegas Blvd and Casino Hotels.  Trump is the gold one on right.

One of the four thrill rides at the top.

Cables for the ultimate thrill "Skyjump."

Monorail on the left side of SLS resort/casino and Blvd on the right.
Young man suited up for the Skyjump.

Landing pad, little blue square with bullseye on the center left.

Riding on a double decker bus, front seats.

Marshal recognized this place from a documentary, Heart Attack Burger.  Too bad we already had lunch.  They wore hospital gowns inside.  Scale in front.  Over 350 lbs eats free.  Cash only.  Might die before your check clears.

Oldest consistently running hotel/casino since 1941.

Found an Irish slot machine in the El Cortez to eat Dad's $10.

Newest addition to the old Fremont downtown district, Container Park.

Container Park play structure in the center plaza of shops and restaurants built of shipping containers.

Last good shot of Las Vegas before heading home, New York, New York.
Marshal is glad to be home, breathing fresh Northwest air.  Home sweet home.  Thank you dear Mom/Grandma Ruth for keeping the kids and home happy and secure in our absence!
